Sure eating right keeps you fitting into your favorite custom suit, but it’s more than that. Entrepreneurs often struggle to maintain healthy diets, whether they’re skipping breakfast to get a jump on morning emails or overeating after a hectic day. But proper nutrition is essential for business success. Follow these simple tips to stay focused and energized throughout your day:

  1. Don’t skip breakfast or you will begin to lose focus and energy within three hours. A bagel or donut doesn’t add much time. The ideal breakfast for long-lasting energy and concentration? A vegetable omelet with a side of tomatoes and greens; plain oatmeal with a touch of cinnamon, almonds or walnuts, and flax seed or try a smoothie made with blueberries, flax seed oil and almond butter.
  2. Eat a 4 p.m. snack. Having a snack a few hours after lunch sustains your energy level through the end of the day and helps you avoid overeating at dinner. Opt for an apple with almond butter or a small smoothie.
  3. Get a good night’s rest. Overeating at dinner and late night snacking can disrupt your sleep. Stop eating three hours before bedtime. Write down three best things about your day and three things you need to do tomorrow to relieve stress and help you sleep well.
