You may be young, motivated and smart, but nothing can replace experience. Each time we face a new challenge we learn a lesson. Take sports for example, players and teams practice game plays over and over in an attempt to simulate game scenarios. The thinking behind this philosophy is that if you are exposed to specific stresses you train to react to them in a certain way. The same idea works in business. Sure there are some young professionals who are so skilled that they can process and react perfectly the first time they face a tough moment. Perhaps you are one of them; but most likely not. Most of us need to face challenges in order to truly learn. We need to practice. Put yourself in situations that are uncomfortable – pitch in front of an audience, experienced veteran or peer. Put yourself under stress now, because someone else will definitely do it later.
