LinkedIn research suggests that members are nearly 50% more likely to purchase from a company they’ve interacted with on LinkedIn, and 80% say they want to connect with companies on the platform. So my question to you is: Are you using LinkedIn to its fullest potential to connect with customers, network and identify new leads? Here are five tips to help you maximize LinkedIn for your business:

  1. Create a personal and a company page. Company Pages allow LinkedIn users to “follow” your company, and you can create a profile that clearly details your company’s expertise.  Your personal page can still share company news, but you should also use it to leverage personal relationships with other LinkedIn members.
  2. Ask for recommendations. Business owners shouldn’t be shy about asking loyal customers for recommendations about services or products.
  3. Give a behind-the-scenes look at your company. Link your pages to your company (or personal) blog, post about company events or fundraising drives.
  4. Post frequently.  Posting more often may help your company’s page rank higher when searched on Google or other search engines.
  5. Reach out for introductions. Use LinkedIn as a resource for identifying leads by reaching out to new contacts or through the contacts of current contacts or employees. Make sure you are respectful and not overly self-serving.
